About the Artist & Workshop

Phillip Orcher is a proud Muruwari and Gumbaynggirr man, contemporary artist, and cultural educator. His practice explores the intersection of cultural legacy and modern expression, often using bold colour and layered symbolism to tell stories of identity, strength, and connection to Country.

In these hands-on workshops for kids, participants will create their own artwork on canvas to take home. Guided by Phillip, children will explore contemporary Aboriginal art techniques while reflecting on this year’s NAIDOC theme: The Next Generation – Strength, Vision and Legacy. The workshop encourages young artists to think about their own stories, their families, and the legacy they want to leave behind—all through colour, movement, and creativity.

Expect a vibrant, engaging session that empowers the next generation to express who they are through art.
